Bio
Herb-N-Life is a home grown Arizona rock band started in 2000 by original members Joe Pealstrom, Sam Edwards, and Jeff “Heffro” Tryon. Their unique blend of hip-hop, reggae, and rock has drawn in a variety of listeners and transcends any specific genre or style. We just like to call it music. HNL gained early success in the local music scene throughout Arizona. Quickly moving from garage band to headliners at venues such as The Bash On Ash, and Big Fish Pub, HNL went on to win Battle of The Bands at the Mason Jar in Phoenix and headlined Reggae Fest in 2002. The band produced and recorded their own music and late in 2002 the three jumped in the studio and recorded a ten track demo. After a couple months of Joe knocking on the door of the radio stations, the song “Stars” received some air time on The Edge 106.3 fm.
Herb-N-Life continued to grow as a band and everything was on the up until May of 2003 when Joe Pealstrom was involved in a roll-over car accident in El Centro, CA. He passed away on the way to the hospital. It was uncertain as to whether or not HNL would continue, but with overwhelming support and the massive turnout at Joe’s Benefit Show it was obvious that Herb-N-Life needed to carry on. Sam and Heffro continued as a two piece until 2004 when they began recruiting new band members. Some have come and gone but Herb-N-Life has made it’s way to the forefront of Arizona’s music scene. Often headlining at venues like The Sets and Crabby Don’s , HNL has opened for bands such as Long Beach Shortbus and The Phunk Junkeez. The band today consists of Sam, Heffro, and newly added bass player, James Lamparter. Herb-N-Life is in the process of recording their first full length album which is expected to release at the end of 2008. The band continues to gain exposure through playing shows and the ever so popular Myspace which has generated over 50,000 hits and close to 90,000 song plays to date.
